Course Description:
This course is designed for individuals who are interested in learning the basic techniques and principles of drawing realistic pencil portraits. Participants will learn how to observe and capture the likeness of their subject by studying proportion, anatomy, light and shadow, and other fundamental concepts.
Throughout the course, you will develop your skills through a series of exercises that focus on different aspects of portrait drawing, such as creating accurate facial features, and establishing a sense of depth and dimensionality.
Course Goals:
To teach participants the basic principles and techniques of pencil portrait drawing
To provide participants with opportunities to practice and develop their skills through exercises designed for the course
To help participants develop a critical eye for proportion, anatomy, and other important elements of portrait drawing
To introduce participants to different materials and techniques for creating different effects and textures.
To encourage participants to develop their own style and approach to portrait drawing.
Course Outcomes:
Ability to accurately observe and draw facial features and expressions.
Understanding of basic anatomy and proportion in portrait drawing.
Ability to use light and shadow to create a sense of depth and form.
Familiarity with different types of pencils, erasers, and paper used in portrait drawing.
Creation of completed pencil portrait.
